Lesson Title: Eintou
The Eintou is an African-American septet syllabic-count form consisting of 2 syllables in the first line, 4 in the second, 6 in the third, 8 in the fourth, in 6 the fifth, 4 in the sixth, and in 2 the seventh. Capitalization is optional. The structure of this form reflects the cyclical nature of life; that we ultimately return to that from which we have come. The term Eintou is West African for "pearl," as in pearls of wisdom.
Examples:
Resurrection
fallen
from dead flowers,
the dry seeds are buried
in a graveyard of darkness, rain.
light. leaves sprout. the fallen
arise to be
flowers
A Riddle
the word --
a beginning,
or an end? does the word
provide a mask, or unsheathe the truth?
is a wall of writing
a window, not
a wall?
Unease with the Passed
it was
a comfort, what
the psychic said, that you
still watch out for me; but do you
always watch me, or worse,
listen inside
my head?
