Lesson Title: Kyrielle

The Kyrielle is a poem made up of quatrains with eight syllables per line and a refrain ending each stanza.

A8 A8 B8 B8 C8 C8 B8 B8 D8 D8 B8 B8…

Example:

A Life Gone By

A8 Below the shady elm I lie
A8 Reveries of a life gone by
B8 A picnic of my memories
B8 While ants crawl by in colonies

C8 There's no more doubt, just sad regret
C8 Of things I have not finished yet
B8 That sting inside my memories
B8 While ants crawl by in colonies

D8 My last good years have left me now
D8 There's not much that time will allow
B8 So I hold to my memories
B8 While ants crawl by in colonies
