This month’s featured poet is: Orania Hamilton

Orania Hamilton, CFP member and was nominated for the Pushcart Prize and has received other awards and nominations in her poetry career.

Orania Hamilton is a CFP member, Member of The Academy of American Poets, Poet Projects/ Phenomenal Woman of the Web, California Writers/ First vice president of the San Bernardino chapter of the, California Federation of Chaparral Poets Inc. 2002 -2003 reelected for 2004.and the, Assistant Poetry Editor of the off line Magazine, Dream Fantasy international in Champaign, IL. 2003, Appointed Poetry director of the, Apple Valley Library, CA. I am working on my book for 2006.

She was born and raised in Brooklyn New York, and now resides in California since 1963. She is a Coordinator / Teacher of conversational English for exchange students and her ethnic background is Greek.

She was nominated for the 2005, Pushcart award. (The Pushcart Prize - Best of the Small Presses series, published every year since 1976, is the most honored literary project in America. She won the 2004, Fusion Poetry Award. Frst place for my 9/11 poem in, Poetry Now Mag (UK) 2002 hard copy. First place in San Jose Art and Poetry festival in 2002. First place in Poetic Universe in 2001. 'First place in Poetically Speaking, 2003. Finalist in Fusion Contest 2003. Finalist in Mandy contest 2003. Currently appears in seven Anthologies, one of which is in the 2006 anthology for Artist For A Better World, "Spirit of Humanity." Together with other poets have been featured in many tours in the United States, taped a TV poetry session for Emerging Poets in North Dakota, guest poet at the Channing Murray Foundation at the University of IL., and was invited to read at the well known Morden Towers in Newcastle, England where Ginsberg, Corsco and Rumi have read, which I did attend. Invited to read at the University of New castle, England I have had two press releases, one in Apple valley, Ca and the other in San Jose Ca. Featured poet in Pasedena, CA in Jan, 2006. Founder of Platinum Poetry in 2001, a poetry reading room and the originator of 'Cally's Spring Muse' in Apple Valley, Ca in 2002.
