GET PUBLISHED, GET INVOLVED
CFP Affiliate, the Canada Cuba Literary Alliance is putting together an
exclusive CFP MEMBER publishing opportunity. There has never been a
better time to join the CFP!
Before the call is open however, we need a CFP member to serve as the
point of contact/coordinator for the submissions, and will be working directly
with Richard Grove, president of the CCLA. If selected as coordinator,
your work will automatically appear in the perfect bound anthology.
More contest details will be announced as soon as the coordinator is chosen.
This will be a postcard prose, up to 300 words, and those selected will
also receive a free copy of the finished book.
To be considered for this position, make sure you are a CFP member,
or join and send an
email to: Tracy@federationofpoets.com with CCLA Coordinator in the subject line,
and some details of your experience in the email body.

POETIC BEAUTY is a story Joanne wrote in the hopes of giving teens
the courage to stand up and say no to abuse when dating. This story is about a
teen who finds herself in a bad situation, and is courageous enough to look
honestly at her feelings. As she realizes the danger that would confront her
if she chose to continue in this volatile relationship, she knew there were choices
to be made, and she alone must find the courage to make them.

MEMBERS IN THE NEWS
CFP member Jean Burbidge won the 2006 Booker Bookstore poetry award
sponsored by the Oakville Inkwriter's Association.
She received a cheque, presentation, book, and her name appears on a
plaque located in the store. Here is her winning poem.
Spray Paint Lover
Letters 4 feet high,
Red strokes on rock faces
Dripping bloody dye.
Look up and read my heart
Laid out for all to see,
A year ago or more.
Passing in the night,
Caught by love on the rocks,
For seconds in the light
You feel her fingers’ touch,
Uncertain why you left.
The letters pass, unspoiled
By rain or snow or sleet
Proclaim my everlasting love,
But I’ve moved on
To virgin rocks, write other names
Farther down the road.
