Wow
- can you believe another year went by? My life has completely
changed this past year, and I am very excited about next. I hope
you are too. There are tons of opportunities for poets to be
heard, so let's make 2008 a year of poets.
Let your poetry flow, keep your positive outlook, and share your work.
Don't forget to take advantage of the many
publishing opportunities on right now - especially with 10 Anthology
calls open - it's an exciting time to put your publishing credits into
affluence for a prosperous 2008.

2008: What Are Your Plans?
If you have been watching the news, listening to the headlines,
or
have friends and family that have been affected by drugs, lack
of literacy, abuse, human rights issues, tragedy, illness - it's
not a pretty picture - which is why poetry is so very important
right now.
We don't need to become reporters of what is already happening.
I want to urge you to become part of a movement that will use
their words to reshape the way we live, our culture, society,
how we treat people, our planet, and what needs to be made known
and done to make living what it was meant to be.
Al Gore made Global Warming a very real issue, not that it
wasn't real before him, but he used his power to get the message
out. George Clooney made us aware of Darfur, and many
others are playing their part too.
Your power is in what you write. My focus is Human
Rights, and the fact that we have 30 of them, everyone of us,
and they are being abused every second of every day around the
world. So I don't complain or whine and become a part of
it, I look and use my power of writing to enlighten, recommend
and encourage others to seek answers to how they can make a
difference too.
SO I am hoping that 2008 becomes a year where the poet is not
only heard, but each of us carries a message, not just an
observation, but a solution to how we can make a difference to
how mankind reaches his full potential, where our voices are a
part of how culture is shaped, and where war, disease, drugs,
illiteracy, immorality, and crime become something we read about
in history books.
Just something to think about as you put together
your writing plans for 2008.
Something Can Be Done About It!
I thank you for being a part of the Canadian Federation of
Poets' community, and as for the members of the CFP, I am deeply
grateful you have chosen to support this organization, and are
including me as a part of your journey.
