NEW POETRY CANADA CONTEST
Save the Planet! Contest
For this contest Poetry Canada is looking for poetic ideas and
philosophies that will help make the world
a better place.
Many of us know what we don't like when it comes to the environment. Pollution, global warming,
war, violence, terrorism and the list goes on.
Instead of us merely condemning the act, let's turn
this around and provide solutions, answers, positive thought that can carry us forward towards
a better world.

February is here, and we have an exciting month of events,
contests, and challenges. January was a record breaking month
for new members, and we are thrilled with the number of poets
that are gaining their voice and want to be heard. So we would
like to invite everyone to share their voice with us, and
get heard with the Canadian Federation of Poets. Take advantage
of the anthology, submit your poems to Poetry Canada magazine,
participate on the forums, attend the events, introduce yourself,
and come out of the closet - it's getting too crowded in there!

If you have any questions,
feel free to send me an email.

Poets and a Website
As the designer and creator of many web sites, I am often asked by poets "Should I have one?"
As someone who embraces new ways to sell products, my answer would be YES! If you have a book,
or CD, or want an area to display all of your work for others to admire, then you should consider
having a website.
There are 5 main steps to taking on technology.
1. Establish what your domain name will be
A domain name is the name of your site. For example it can be a cute name you come up
with such as apoetsplace.com or your name or anything you want that represents what you do.
Then once you come up with a few possibilities, you need to search through a domain name provider
to see if the name is available. If it is, grab it.
There are many places to purchase a domain name, but I use Directnic.com
as they cost just $15 USD for the year, and you can have a free place to host it, plus they have
utilities to help you create and market your site.
Find out more details on how to search and select a domain name.
Find out the next step "How to select an ISP" (Internet Service Provider) and how to get your domain name
for free in the next issue.
