VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
This is a great opportunity to help the
CFP, help yourself, gain a great skill for your CV/Bio, and in return I will offer
promotional freebies of your skills, your work, your events and/or your products.
See the volunteers
section for complete details.
Looking for a Relationship Manager:
This involves seeking out appropriate places on the internet
to get the CFP listed. It can be done at your convenience, in
however much time you have. My goal would be at least one new
link per week for a total of 52 at the end of the year.
It is easy to do, just do a search on poetry sites, check them out,
and if they're appropriate, email and ask for a link if they have a
links section.
Contact Tracy Repchuk to apply or find out more!
Check out all of the available volunteer positions and
pick one that is just right for you.
CALENDAR COORDINATOR
Betty Dobson of Halifax, Nova Scotia who has taken on the position of
Calendar Coordinator!
If you are a CFP member, this is a great way to promote your book launches, appearances,
and check out contest calls and events.
If you are a CFP member, or a CFP Affiliate Organization feel free to submit
your events to us. It is a great way to easily increase attendance.

For those of you who know me, you will recall that 2 years ago on this date, my brother
ended up in a wheelchair from a motorcycle accident. I rarely ask friends to help
when I am fund raising, but this year I had an idea on how to raise funds for
|
The CPAO No Limits
Wheelchair Race I am participating in. It lets me experience just a tiny moment
of his challenges, and it's for a good cause. So here's my idea - if
every subscriber pledged just $1 - we would make an enormous difference
in getting them direct aid, rehab counselling, peer support, and transportation.
|
I am setting up a paypal link for this, and thank everyone in advance for your support.
The event is September 16th and I will let you know how it all went, and even post some
pictures so you can see for yourself how big a difference, a small amount can make.
All those who donate will receive a special thanks in this newsletter.

BACK TO SCHOOL TIME
Welcome to our newest volunteer Robert Hayes, who is assuming the position of
Education Director.
For quite a while now the Canadian Federation of Poets has had a Certified Poets'
Certificate in which you can complete a series of 52 lessons, learn tons
about the different styles of poetry, about how to promote yourself, create chapbooks,
put together a website, really make a career out of being a poet. With
Robert on board, it is time for you to get back to school, from the convenience
of your own PC, and learn, share and enjoy yourself.
CFP members can earn a Certified Poets' Certificate which will be sent to you
upon completion. It's fun, and free. Anyone can participate in the program,
however non-members can request a check-out on completion for a fee of $30, or
simply join the CFP and get all of the benefits.
I'm going to start posting the lessons intermittently so you can access them through the newsletter,
or online. We'll start off simple, and go from there.
Week 1: Haiku
Haiku, is a 17 syllable poem broken into 3 lines of 5,7 and 5 syllables respectively.
Originating in Japan, Haiku means "beginning phrase".
The rules for this type of poetry are it must refer to something in nature, and represent a season. It is written in the present tense.
Yard Work
Metal prongs - gather
Fallen hands from outright arms
Green blades breathe again

(Remember to either first login if you have an account, or register and let us know you have registered so we can
complete the approval.)

FEATURE BOOK ANNOUNCE

Poetic Beauty By Joanne Joyce Green
|
Joanne Joyce Williams was born in Toronto, Ontario, where she lives with her husband
Donald. Like many of us, poetry came into her life early as a child of eight,
while she was sitting under the table while Mother sang. As a ripe young woman
of 90 years young, she was inspired to create POETIC BEAUTY which is a
story Joanne wrote in the hopes of giving teens the courage to stand up and say no
to abuse when dating. This story is about a
teen who finds herself in a bad situation, and must make choices and look
honestly at her feelings - and that she alone must find the courage to make them.
