August is upon us, and at the height of summer many of us have been through
a heat wave. To make it even hotter, I went down to Florida this past week
for a motivational conference, so I'm back even more determined than ever to
get poetry everywhere.
I still need a calendar co-ordinator, so if you have a few minutes a couple of times
a week, I'd love your help. We have CFP member Trish Shields taking care of the
anthology calls, and a few more chapters/federations are in the process of being
started, and I'll get you more details as they get settled. Look for new things
in Nova Scotia, Guelph and Alberta.
Join the CFP and become a part of a vibrant and supportive group. Check out the benefits and join.
A free subscription to Poetry Canada magazine and over 20 other
benefits, to help you really get your money's worth.

MEMBERS FORUM
|
|
A reminder that the CFP has many forums you can share your work on, talk to other
poets, practice, do lessons, and much more. This week a fun posting appeared, so I have
put in an exert from a posting by Nikhil Parekh.
"Thank you Lily and tracy for appreciation of this poem. Each comment from Tracy
Lynn Repchuk is warm and inspiring to the soul. I admire the unflinching conviction
with which she has singlehandedly crafted the Canadian Federation of Poets into
a world class organization. She has left no stone unturned in creating an
organization catering to poets of all fraternities, religion, color to come
together and head towards success.
In my letters from world leaders, I have heard four times from the Deputy Prime
Minister of Canada, Anne McLlelan and thrice from Paul Martin.
If I can have a letter signed by several members here in this community, of
course with the seal and final sign of Tracy Lynn Repchuk, I can then send
that signed letter as an appeal to the Canadian Govt. to grant the Canadian
Federation of Poets National status -- to the Deputy PM of Canada as
well as the PM of Canada--as I've had an excellent rapport with both in recent past.
I would humbly implore for grants, for official national status and other things
after it's signed by important members of this community and herself."
Check out the entire posting and become a part of this appeal.
My response is - Thanks Nikhil for your kind thoughts, and words, and to members such as
Donna, George, Richard, Graham, Stella, Jean, David, and
too many to mention that help to make the CFP what it is today and tomorrow!

FEATURE BOOK ANNOUNCE

Poetic Beauty By Joanne Joyce Green
|
Joanne Joyce Williams was born in Toronto, Ontario, where she lives with her husband
Donald. Like many of us, poetry came into her life early as a child of eight,
while she was sitting under the table while Mother sang. As a ripe young woman
of 90 years young, she was inspired to create POETIC BEAUTY which is a
story Joanne wrote in the hopes of giving teens the courage to stand up and say no
to abuse when dating. This story is about a
teen who finds herself in a bad situation, and must make choices and look
honestly at her feelings - and that she alone must find the courage to make them.
Paperback - 84 pages ISBN #08059-9109-3

CALENDAR HELP NEEDED
The CFP needs a new Calendar Coordinator!
If you are a CFP member, contact us ASAP for this position. You must have access daily
to a computer and email. I would be forwarding submissions for you to post. I will
also train you to enter them on the calendar, which takes only minutes. It is an easy
way to become involved, with very little time involvement.
