THE POETRY OF CHILDREN
Editor:
Rebecca Cuevas De Caissie
www.thepoetryofchildren.com
Something we can all relate to, since we were all once children,
and some of the very lucky few, have managed to keep that
youthful outlook in everything they do. I know I try to
still play like a kid, of course, having young kids keeps me
constantly reminded of how I am supposed to act. That
doesn't mean being irresponsible, it just means, keeping
connected with the child within.
This anthology is about your childhood memories, your memories
of your children, their children, child-like yearnings of years
gone by, anything that brings back the essence of children.
Especially when it comes to poetry, children start off loving
it, with nursery rhymes. Then they love it through
childhood, and then hit high school and they are taught what
they write is wrong, in the wrong way, and no consideration is
given to creativity and imagination fist, form second. So
they stop, and only a few lucky make it through or continue to
do it into adulthood. Write about this, and how we can
make the transition for teens easier to poetry.
Experiment, share memories, tell us about your journey, as a
child, a mother, a grandmother, father, grandfather, any
relationship you can think of. The newspaper boy who came at
Christmas, your favourite memory, whatever you want, about
children or your childhood.
This isn't a book for children, it's about them.
Rebecca is really active with the youth for the CFP, so she
is excited to get to know everyone better through your CHILDREN
poems.Start your next masterpiece.
